It’s Lovely Down in the Woods Today
WYNONNA EARP – Episode 110 – She Wouldn’t Be Gone – SPOILERS ⁓
Bobo (Michael Eklund) discovers that an old enemy, Lou (Gord Rand), has returned to the Ghost River Triangle when gas station Cal (David Trimble) owner reports seeing a woman (Christa Taylor Brown) bearing Lou’s mark being devoured by a wolf. Lou left town a century or so ago with his first wife Tadewi (Riza Santos), who is a skinwalker, a creature described in Navajo lore who can shapeshift into various animal forms.
On instructions from Bobo, Whiskey Jim (Joris Jarsky), who is being held captive by Dolls (Shamier Anderson) , reveals Lou’s hiding place. Dolls and Wynonna (Melanie Scrofano) go after Lou, and find him leading a cult made up of young runaway women.
On the way to Lou’s hideout, we discover that Dolls has hylophobia. (He calls it “sylvan dread”, a term coined in Doc Holliday’s time by British ghost story writer M.R. James.
When Lou prevents Wynonna and Dolls from escaping, Dolls mentions Bobo, and Lou says: “Bobo? That narcissist finally figure out that his stupid fur coat won’t protect him?” indicating that Bobo’s distinctive fur coat might be a protective talisman.
Just how Lou can maintain his cult’s headquarters so well and still keep its location a secret is never explained.
Realizing he has been discovered, Lou marks most of his followers as prey for his captive skinwalker, and prepares to leave. Margot, one of his more dedicated disciples, remarks: “He will rise again to make us clear once more.” This might be a jab at the Church of Scientology, which defines a Clear as a being who is in control of his or her own thoughts.

While Lou tries to escape on his snowmobile, his skinwalker changes into a large bear to keep Wynonna busy, and knocks Peacemaker away from her. Cult member Eve (Natalie Krill) picks up the gun and drops Lou with a single shot. Because only Earps can shoot Peacemaker, Wynonna immediately suspects Eve to be her long lost sister Willa.
Those liberated from Lou’s compound, including Eve, are brought to the Purgatory Sheriff’s Office, and everyone but Eve is claimed by someone. Wynonna takes Eve back to the homestead, where Gus (Natascha Girgis) immediately recognizes her as Willa. What happened to Willa Earp after her abduction in 2000 is revealed in “House of Memories” (Episode 1.12).
Earlier, Wynonna gave Doc (Tim Rozon) the Stone Witch’s pink 1980 Lincoln.
DOC: “Wynonna Earp. The only woman so bold as to woo a man with another woman’s car.”
WYNONNA: “I thought that if anyone should have it, it’s you.”
DOC: “And exactly what am I to do with it?”
WYNONNA: “What do you usually do with your enemy’s horse? Shoot it; ride it; paint it something other than pink?”
DOC: “Colour is the only thing this pony has going for it. Strong. Masculine.”
WYNONNA: “Pink’s traditionally a girl’s colour.’
DOC: “Oh, how history rewrites itself. Back in my day, girls were all dainty and delicate in blues.”
Doc is later caught driving erratically and speeding on his way out of town. When he is ticketed by Officer Haught (Kat Barrell) for doing 140 kph in a 50 kph zone, he explains he is on his way to visit his mother’s grave in Valdosta, Georgia. (His real reason for leaving is his belief that Wynonna does not return his affections.)
